tried installing ayana wingpanel/app-indicator to get KDEconnect to work, and this is how it looks. how do i fix it?

I would prefer something like the wingpanel namarupa indicator for elementary, personally. Just group them up, out of sight.

Hi, unfortunately this isn't supported by elementary. There are some public repos offering this functionality such as namarupa but I don't believe the project is supported anymore by the dev (I may be wrong on this).
