About the Obsidian Team
I don't really see what this project has in common with Obsidian. If you really want an open source alternative to Obsidian, there's always Foam. However, Obsidian is so polished and functional I can't imagine wanting to adopt something else just because the alternative is open source.

After Obsidian and Logseq, I give Dendron a try
For this looking for an Obsidian like tool for commercial usage, check out Foam [0]. It covers most of the core Obsidian featured and it's implemented as a VS Code extension and some of the advantages that entails. Of course, you won't have access to the Obsidian extensions and I do miss the live preview feature and the Android app but it's way more than servicable.

The Cloudflare outage is proof that we need offline mode more than ever
Foam - uses VS Code and syncs with a git repo of your choice (GitHub, GitLab, etc). Not sure there's anything faster than local markdown files.

Does anyone else use notion for their homelab projects?
Obsidian is great, but I recommend you to also have a look at Foam. Especially since Foam is open source and Obsidian is not.

Visual Studio vs Visual Studio Code?
VSCode is delightfully flexible and themable, and miraculously light for Electron. Wonderful Git experience with GitLens, Git History; Command Palette is fast and versatile. Set up a Foam repo for notes/todos and you'll have a one-stop shop.
