vscode-codicons VS nvim-nonicons

What this does is create a custom terminal profile for all Windows environments. It tells VS Code to use cmd.exe to open C:\cmder\vendor\init.bat, which starts up Cmder. You can set the icon to any Codicon.

I experienced something similar. After some reasearch, I found out that the prebuilt fonts from https://www.nerdfonts.com/ are not patched with all the latest codicons set. I ultimately ended up patching a font myself using font-patcher. If you want, my patched version of Fira Code is in my nvim config. I just migrated to 0.9 over the weekend and all icons in neo-tree, dap-ui and telescope are displaying properly.

I prefer using codicons for all signs in Neovim.

The default icons use codicons It's recommended to use this fork which fixes alignment issues for the terminal. If your terminal doesn't support font fallback and you need to have icons included in font you use you can patch it via Font Patcher. Simple step by step guide here.

nvim-web-devicons can be configured to use something other than a nerd font. See here. That should help

As others have mentioned in this thread, you may want to consider some different approaches to your plugin and how you give users access to the customization you've done. Right now, it looks like your plugin looks identical to nvim-web-devicons but with a different set of default icons and colors. If your main goal is to provide this custom configuration, you could simply make nvim-web-devicons a dependency of your plugin and use the require("nvim-web-devicons").set_icon() API to set the custom icons and colors. This is a similar approach to a plugin I use nvim-nonicons.

Hey. I am trying to get nonicons to work in my neovim config. I use st, but I have a problem getting it to work as I want. In kitty, you can specify the nonicons to override the default font like this in the kitty.conf: symbol_map U+f101-U+f208 nonicons

you need to build a new font and patch that icon to new font it is not simple but they already patch nonicons https://github.com/yamatsum/nvim-nonicons
