Nothing is better than a good quality product and it is free. We, Smart Walkie Pte. Ltd., have been developing walkie talkie (Push-To-Talk) software for years with all the hurdles and obstacles we faced to bring the best solution to our users who come from all over the world (~186 countries). Now we proudly announce that you can take and use some of our good work in the form of open source Android Software Development Kit (SDK) and open source server that you can self-host. This is our contribution to the community whom we owe. Oftentimes we take info and get answers from the community. And we solve some of our problems using the open source software from the community too. So, this is our “thank you” to the community, which might also include you.

Use a GitHub Action or bot: I highly recommend using the all-contributors bot because whenever someone makes a Pull Request to Deals for Dev, the bot automatically adds the person’s name and icon that exemplifies their contribution in the Contributing Guide. It makes giving recognition to people for their contributions a whole lot easier.

There are many ways to recognize contributions outside of GitHub repositories. Tools such as All Contributors provide a common way to recognize many different types of contributions, from code, to docs, and more. Contributions can also be recognized in the form of shoutouts on social media, upgraded roles on Discord or Slack channels, and access to internal chats for more focused conversations. These external interactions go a long way in building community and engagement around your project and encourage future contributors to come onboard.

Starlite is a community driven project - it's a core pillar of Starlite to have multiple maintainers and be as open, inviting and accessible for contributions as we can be. The project follows the all-contributors specification and we attribute all types of contribution - code, testing, refactoring, code reviews, documentation, design of the docs, writing and evangelizing etc.

The developers at Smart Walkie Pte. Ltd. are full time maintainers of the code. So if you have issues or find bugs, don’t hesitate to report to us. We also welcome all contributions from the community, not just code, but any contribution, for example updating the documentation or hinting a typo.
