My uses for vimwiki have dried up... and it makes me a little sad
I use vimwiki almost daily, but it's not professional use, just daily notes and organizing my life. I started using zim but I found I really missed writing/editing with vim. Then I found vimwiki. There are things I'm not super happy about with it. I saw that /u/lervag (love his vimtex plugin) released a wiki plugin and I was/am interested in it, but I have so much in my wiki right now that I don't want to deal with conversion issues.

Note Taking Applications, Beyond the Doc
Definitely get vimtex and set it up so you can view the compiled document in one window, and your notes in the other. Get used to vim a bit with some vim tutorial (there are a bunch out there), and have latex shortcuts you use in all your documents.

I like Tabasco.
I do think VSCode is a great tool and I recommend it frequently to people, but I still want to set the record straight here. Yes, vim is obviously limited in the sense that as a CLI app it doesn't draw it's own PDF or HTML windows, that's fair. But it can remote control your favorite PDF viewer or browser for roughly the same functionality. I'm currently writing my thesis using vimtex and it's quite smooth. And all the other stuff you mention is implemented quite competently by various plugins like vim-fugitive, coc.nvim, vimspector and copilot.vim.

Is there a way to render advanced latex on Obsidian?
Obsidian is limited by its use of markdown files. You can use Overleaf, Vimtex, or LaTeX workshop on VS Code to render your tex documents.

What are all the accepted "inner" motion arguments?
Some language-specific plugins like vimtex also include their own text objects.

[VimTeX] vim on mac lags when trying to use includegraphics[]{} for attaching image to a .tex file
I would post an issue on the VimTeX Github page: https://github.com/lervag/vimtex/issues. That way you might also get help to disable the possible indexing. I have also needed to disable project file scanning to stop Vim from hanging, when pressing Ctrl + N to perform simple auto-complete.

Which vim plugins do not have a lua equivalent yet?
Absolutely VimTeX

Gitless a simple VCS built on top of Git
What's helped me much more lately is undotree for vim [1]. It basically logs every single time a file is saved. Its much more useful because commits have to be made by humans and they may not do it often (and usually there is an incentive for "clean or working commits"). There have been many times where I went back to copy something from the undotree.

Some plugin for tracking and visualizing of changes across multiple buffers? Or switches between buffers?
Hi, I love Vim, and use it for big projects too, with many files. Often I switch between many files, make changes, undo, and get lost in them, trying to find a file that I edited and undoed a few minutes ago. I think, maybe exists some plugin, that will visualize my history of changes, like UndoTree, but across multiple buffers? And/or list of my teleportations between buffers? I can imagine this, also like a tree...

Opening undotree does not automatically change focus to the buffer

Tell HN: Vim users, `:x` is like `:wq` but writes only when changes are made
> I really hate autosave. I like using saving like a checkpoint where i have the ultimate undo button by ditching the unsaved changes.
Although I don't use autosave, I don't think it matters that much with vim because you can always use undotree[0]

Any good reason not to remap "u" to "g-" and "<c-r>" to "g+"?
I finally got around to clear up the vague notions I had about the `g+` and `g-` commands which I knew helped me jump to across branches but was never exactly sure how. With the help of undotree module, it is now crystal clear what the difference was between `u` and `g-` and between `` and `g+` are.
