Terminal workflow with GUI Neovim
Using https://github.com/voldikss/vim-floaterm and remap the same shortcuts to (un)toggle the terminal would be interesting for you, also about compatibility, because if tomorrow you use nvim in the terminal you have the same key maps.

Tools for productivity
If you don't like distro's and want to use something of your own, make sure that you have a few plugins like telescope.nvim, lazy.nvim, toggleterm.nvim Or vim-floaterm, gitsigns.nvim, which-key.nvim, which will make your neovim journey smooth. Again these are just few, but I highly recommend it.

Managing your files. How do you do it?
My personal favorite is ranger, a multi-panel console file manager that works nicely in a Neovim terminal. I also use floaterm to get floating terminal windows for ranger and lazygit, but that's optional. A Neovim tab with a terminal would work equally well.

Git CLI tools and vim
For simple tasks like opening a dirty file in nvim I prefer vim-floaterm. It has a really nice integration with a bunch of TUI tools.

Fuzzy Finder: fzf.vim (for its speed) along with telescope.nvim (for its ecosystem)

There are two plugins allowing us to use fzf in Vim: the native fzf plugin directly installed with fzf, and fzf.vim. The second plugin is built on the first one.

LazyVim
You might be interested in installing the fzf-vim plugin [0]. It has a user-defined command :Maps which can be used to search through all keybindings (you can also do this with just :nmap in vim, but the fzf interface is much nicer). It also provides :Commands. This behaves remarkably like VSCode's command palette.

I use the default file browser in vim (netrw). I know there are plugins that a lot of people like. Should I switch?
I do all my file operations from the command line. But to open and search files I use fzf

There's a :Buffers command in fzf.vim that I use extensively. It opens a fuzzy-find window with all open buffers in a MRU list.

jfind: over 130x faster than telescope + telescope-fzf-native
they're likely referring to fzf.vim, the vimscript plugin from the original fzf author that wraps around fzf. there's also fzf-lua nowadays.
