    I also went deep documenting it. The result is a rather large README.adoc, with a PDF version there too. That was another learning exercise, including accommodating GitHub's annoying limitations and defaults rendering Asciidoc. It was also a good learning exercise for how to serve up images in GitHub without adding them to the repository, i.e., not bloating it needlessly with images, which some may be interested in too: Creating an images repository gist. But that's an aside: you may want to check out vim-tene if either you want to give it a try or to consider it as a reference for how it does some things. Looking back at past posts, for example, there are a few things solved, e.g., as already noted, Operator-pending modes not displaying in statuslines. So, if you have your own statusline, don't want another, but do want to add that capability....
