tufte-latex VS kaobook

You might want to check an Edward Tufte - inspired LaTex class: https://tufte-latex.github.io/tufte-latex/

in previous posts in this subreddit i got rec'ed this https://github.com/Tufte-LaTeX/tufte-latex however im struggling to get started with creating documents with it, not really understanding how it works to get the document classs set up etc. so can anyone give me some help, once i get the first steps it will probably be easier then

--- PS: I know that that tufte-latex already exists, but I really wanted to try to create the perfect thing for me, while learning a lot about LaTeX.

The thesis style is based on https://github.com/Tufte-LaTeX/tufte-latex. My preamble is a mess but if you email me I can send you a copy. :D

I would say that it is very close to the kaobook class. Here is the repo. There are docs in the repo, that are written in the kaobook class so take a look and make your own opinion.

I can highly recommend kaobook: https://github.com/fmarotta/kaobook. Currently writing my Master thesis with that.

- I find the kaobook class very nice and complete, and the layout seems to open up a lot of options for integrating a lot of visual information, supplementary texts, etc. Has anyone used it, liked it, any other comments or alternatives?

I downloaded kaobook template from https://github.com/fmarotta/kaobook, it used to compile properly with Texlive 2019 and 2020. However when I try to compile using TexLive 2021, sidenote, marginfigure and marginnote insert the text "pt0pt"
