Is appimage or a deb package install the preferred way for a desktop app?
One their website they only give the appimage for Linux desktop. There are several other options on their github https://github.com/standardnotes/desktop/releases/tag/v3.9.20

Weird rendering/scaling issue. Text becomes normal when selected.
Hi u/xdrvgy, I think the best thing to do in this case is to either reset the app or reinstall the desktop app since you've upgraded your OS and some users recommend performing a clean installation of new operating systems. If this issue persists, please let us know if this affects any other apps that are built with the Electron framework.

Revert to version 3 protocol
You can register for a temporary account with a pre-3.5 desktop client by downloading an old release (not recommended but you asked). This will set your account up as 003. Then import your backup file if you have one (ensuring it was created before you upgraded your account).

Just switched from windows to Ubuntu
For Notes, I prefer Joplin, it's practically a drop-in replacement for OneNote and surprisingly faster and more feature-rich too, but if you prefer something simpler then I think Notejot and Standard Notes is pretty good too.

There's now a Flatpak for StandardNotes!
It's my understanding that this is the source that the Flathub build bot is building from. So you can look at it yourself to your satisfaction.
