Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Spotify's podcast bet went wrong
At least on desktop you can tweak the Spotify electron-based app with Spicetify[1].
There is already an extension to completely hide podcasts[2].

How do I block Joe Rogan on spotify? If I can't do it, I'm ending my subscription today. Shit is ridiculous.
I love Joe Rogan. But you could always install Spicetify and this hide podcasts extension if you are really that triggered.

How to remove dumb podcast recommendations?
Not much you can do with the mobile app (without rolling back to an earlier version maybe), but for the desktop program there is an extension you can use which hides podcasts: https://github.com/theRealPadster/spicetify-hide-podcasts

I’m so sick of my dash being flooded with recommendations for “shows” I will never listen to
I highly recommend this if you want to get rid of podcasts on the desktop apps.

Spotify is testing a less restrictive ad-supported tier costing $0.99 a month
Note: You can do this on desktop with a customization tool called Spicetify (https://github.com/khanhas/Spicetify-clip) which can load extensions (https://github.com/theRealPadster/spicetify-hide-podcasts). Currently there's a bug making Spicetify not work with the latest Spotify version, so you have to revert to a slightly older version (no noticeable difference, there's updates all the time)
