  • How to write `pretty_print`ed json data into a json file?
    4 projects | /r/neovim | 10 Jan 2023
Afaik there is nothing built into Neovim that can do this. However, I have required this for one of my plugins so I created it. Here is the link: https://github.com/smjonas/snippet-converter.nvim/blob/main/lua/snippet_converter/utils/json_utils.lua. Feel free to use it!

Also, my snipmate parser is probably a good starting point since the grammar is relatively simple: https://github.com/smjonas/snippet-converter.nvim/blob/main/lua/snippet_converter/core/snipmate/body_parser.lua
  • ultisnip or vsnip?

Moved to LuaSnip with the aid of snippert-converter, and it's good. No performance issues, easy to setup with nvim-cmp and works well. Would recommend.
  • [Help] Convert LaTeX UltiSnips Snippets to LuaSnip
    3 projects | /r/neovim | 16 Aug 2022
Please check out my plugin snippet-converter.nvim which will hopefully save you a lot of time! I have put in a lot of effort to handle as many edge cases as possible so you don't have to worry about line breaks and stuff. Cheers! (Note that this plugin currently only supports vscode_luasnip as a target format not "native" LuaSnip snippets in Lua but VSCode-style snippets should cover 99% of your use cases).
  • From UltiSnips to LuaSnip

Nice article! Luasnip also supports snippet priorities btw so you don't need to delete them. You could also automate the conversion of the snippets using snippet-converter.nvim (hope no one minds a bit of self-advertising here ;). That should surely speed things up a bit.
  • Can I use ultisnip and luasnip together with nvim-cmp
    1 project | /r/neovim | 5 Jun 2022
No you would need to convert the snippets to VSCode or SnipMate format first. You can do that using a plugin like snippet-converter.nvim (disclaimer: I am the author of that plugin). Simply set the output format to vscode_luasnip or snipmate_luasnip.

Shameless plug: you could also try my plugin https://github.com/smjonas/snippet-converter.nvim which can handle many more edge cases :)

  • Luasnips, how to get around the awful syntax?
    2 projects | /r/neovim | 6 May 2022
You can try my plugin snippet-converter.nvim, it has not been officially released yet but it's already functional. Sorry for the self-promotion but this seems to solve your problem :) It allows you to write your snippets in UltiSnips format and convert them to VSCode snippets.
  • Make LuaSnip to disable certain snippets from Friendly Snippet?
    1 project | /r/neovim | 19 Apr 2022
There does not seem to be a good way to do this at the moment. However, you might be interested in my plugin snippet-converter.nvim that I've been working on for a few months now - the issue you described is one of the use cases of the plugin! It's already usable but there is still some stuff that need to be worked on... If that's done I'll definitely make an announcement on this sub (hopefully in the next weeks) :)

  • Do you want a faster way to create Lua Snippets?
    3 projects | /r/neovim | 22 Jan 2023
I believe ultisnips has a very intuitive syntax for creating snippets. I wrote a small tool that converts some ultipsnip snippets to luasnip format. The tool can still be improved but I lost motivation after realizing that luasnip has no regex support. Here is it if you want to check it out.
  • Writing a simple parser
    1 project | /r/learnpython | 12 Jan 2023
Thanks for your reply. Actually, the most recent case where I have wanted to parse something has been with respect to convert "code snippets" from one language to another. Here's an attempt to my solution. It works for simple cases, but failes for cases where things are nested, such as in the example below. This is mostly due to me using any structured approach.
  • UltiSnips to LuaSnip converter
    5 projects | /r/neovim | 6 Jan 2023
I have been working on converting some of my Ultisnips snippets to LuaSnips and found the process to be quite tedious. I attempted to automate the process and created a script to do so, which can be found here. Some test cases are included. While it's not possible to fully convert Ultisnips snippets to LuaSnip (as it would require converting from Python to Lua), the script is able to handle relatively simple snippets. Even if the snippet doesn't run correctly at first, it should only require a few adjustments to fix. However, since this is the first time I have written a "parser," I would appreciate any assistance, particularly with the recursive (nested) parts of the script.
