If you mean LSP renaming, then there is inc-rename.nvim (disclaimer: I am the author of that plugin) which will preview and highlight the new name of variables while you are typing.

I turned the incremental LSP rename command into a plugin
Since so many of you seemed to like my previous post on the incremental preview command (https://www.reddit.com/r/neovim/comments/v3ylyv/incremental_lsp_rename_command_based_on_neovims/), I turned this command into a plugin. The previous code had some bugs which should now be fixed. E.g. if an identifier is found multiple times on the same row, the highlights are correctly applied. Enjoy! https://github.com/smjonas/inc-rename.nvim
