- I'm currently working on wireless pcb's for popular wired mice. Making G305 bases for some mice gives problems, because of encoder heights. You wouldn't need a G305 and a 3d-printer to make mice wireless. It is possible I can't get the 3370, instead I would need a 3335. Is that a very big deal?

Has anyone tested the Orochi V2 on higher voltage?
Rechargeable Li-Ion 10440 batteries used in the industry are way cheaper than consumer ones because they're manufactured in much larger quantities but have a higher voltage of 3.7V. The G305's circuitry was able to handle it, according to this.

DO NOT buy AA type C batteries
The battery inside is also at a much higher voltage than 1.5V. And the mouse won't be killed by 3V or even 5.5V cells. OP just bought low quality batteries, that's all.
