New version of my free debug console rt-shell is out, with new power-user keyboard shortcuts! Info inside?
Hi all, I recognize that some of you have been interested in or used my free, open-source debug console asset rt-shell, from the previous times I've posted about it. I've got a new version out I wanted to tell you about. First of all, the downloads: GitHub: https://github.com/daikon-games/rt-shell/releases/3.1.0 itch.io: https://nickavv.itch.io/rt-shell Marketplace: https://marketplace.yoyogames.com/assets/9485/rt-shell OK, so what's new? I fixed some annoying bugs related to autocomplete, but I also added these keyboard shortcuts that make using the console so fast now. They're all based on keyboard shortcuts from like GNU-style terminals like you'd find on Mac or Linux, so maybe not as familiar to Windows users, but I have a lot of muscle memory with these commands so that's why I went with them. Hopefully you can learn them and start being super fast too! Ctrl-A: jump cursor to start of the line Ctrl-E: jump cursor to end of the line Ctrl-Left & Ctrl-Right: skip cursor left/right one word at a time Ctrl-Backspace: Delete entire words at a time Ctrl-K: deletes everything from your cursor to the end of the line, but also copies it to an internal clipboard (this is called "kill" in GNU, hence the ctrl-K) Ctrl-Y: pastes whatever has been "killed" back out where your cursor is (this is called "yank" in GNU, hence the ctrl-Y) I hope if any of you are users of rt-shell already that you'll upgrade and start using these shortcuts to save yourself a lot of time (that's the whole goal of rt-shell in the first place after all). If you're not using rt-shell yet, check it out! It can simplify all sorts of tedious dev-related tasks. Thanks for your time y'all <3 keep being awesome

Ask HN: Yo wants to build a game, I'm lost. What can I do?
My 9-yo son has been making games with GameMaker https://gamemaker.io/
It's a popular framework for creating 2D HTML games and publishing them on sites like Crazy Games.
GameMaker has a lot of great tutorials and templates that makes it easy to get up and running. I usually just set him up with one of the existing game templates and let him loose on customizing the characters using the built-in tools. Then I help him customize the game interactions. GameMaker has two modes: one for visual flow editing and one for directly editing the code. It's a great onramp to learning to code with a super low barrier to entry.

Is godot a good engine for a young ass boy who cant do shit in programming or anything game related.
I started my hobby game development journey with Game Maker Studio - https://gamemaker.io . Now I've switched to Godot for its simplicity and rich set of advanced features to actually build almost AAA games? if that's a thing.
