Any point in switching to packer?

Is it possible to show which LSP is responsible for the current completion menu item?
It is possible, but the feature is not guaranteed to be stable. Check format function in https://github.com/rebelot/dotfiles/blob/master/nvim/lua/plugins/cmp.lua

Will moving my viml config to lua make nvim better in any way or is it just an alternative for those who don't want to use viml?
To make it easier, I wrote a plugin so Vim has the similar defaults to neovim. Vim finds .vim files using neovim paths (e.g. ~/.config/nvim/init.vim and ~/.local/share/nvim/site)

Reasons to stick with Vim over Neovim?
This plugin gives Vim the same defaults, path and directory layout as Neovim: https://github.com/mikeslattery/nvim-defaults.vim

Any point in switching to packer?
I am keeping my config backward compatible with Vim, so I'm only using Lua for neovim-specific stuff. If packer is compelling enough, I may make a break with Vim (and instead use sshfs or nvim scp://... to edit remote server files).

NeoVim defaults for Vim
Ever ssh into a server and which you had nvim and its defaults, and/or maybe the ability to use your nvim dotfiles? I wrote a plugin for that: https://github.com/mikeslattery/nvim-defaults.vim
What are some alternatives?
When comparing dotfiles and nvim-defaults.vim you can also consider the following projects:
neovim-config - A Neovim setup using Lua
vim9 - An experimental fork of Vim, exploring ways to make Vim script faster and better.
kanagawa.nvim - NeoVim dark colorscheme inspired by the colors of the famous painting by Katsushika Hokusai.
vim9jit - a vim9script -> lua transpiler (written in Rust)
paq-nvim - 🌚 Neovim package manager
dotfiles_skeleton - robust and beginner friendly dotfile skeleton
vim-oscyank - A Vim plugin to copy text through SSH with OSC52
