Anyway to install arch alongside windows without screwing everything up?
Instead of grub you'll be using rEFInd to pick the OS to boot (better IMO -check out this theme)

Help Refind Config File For Intel Microcode
For some reason, my rEFInd got installed in /boot/EFI/BOOT instead of /boot/EFI/refind like I've seen in some guides. So I had to change the icon path accordingly (I'm using the rEFInd-minimal theme, as you can see). Maybe it has to do with /boot being a partition, I don't really know.

I replaced grub with systemd-boot
I pretty much did this too but in Arch Linux. It's just a script[1] that I run and I have it working with the linux and the linux-lts kernels. It's pretty nifty. It just works on Arch Linux since kernels don't have version numbers on the name I never have to touch again after installation.
