public-gateway-checker VS ipfs-cluster

Public Gateway Checker | IPFS

The basic concept for how this works is by taking the ipfs native url and converting it to one that uses an ipfs gateway, in my case I've added the official ipfs gateways as the fallback and the Cloudflare gateways as the primary.

Out of pure curiosity, I've just checked 24 online public IPFS gates (source: https://ipfs.github.io/public-gateway-checker/) if they could handle my Tornado Cash request. It is not as bad as it might have been, but probably many just did not yet implement blacklist.

As for Pinata, they shold be an IPFS provider which you should be able to view using any IPFS gateway.

After upload, you might want to save all the CID of your data and share them with your people (just like a URL)

A list of their Public Gateway is available on Github https://ipfs.github.io/public-gateway-checker/ Maybe something can be scripted to block them with your firewall.

Recently I Pulled requests to https://github.com/ipfs/public-gateway-checker/ But it seems that the inspector is not very diligent, haha.

IPFS Cluster

As Libgen is an ever-expanding collection wouldn't something like IPFS Cluster fit this a lot better?

There's also IPFS-cluster if you're into those features.

Then from there, it should be however connectable your server is. If you run multiple, there's ipfs-cluster as an option to sync them. Most of the time I simply send a CID list over ssh.

The cluster as in https://cluster.ipfs.io/ would control the pinning of data. afaik the control would be private, like what it pins. The docs have a space for a key which I assume controls it.

AFAIK you can use IPFS (& clusters[0]) without relying on the crypto parts of that ecosystem. That ought to fit rather well with the use case.

Sounds like a job for IPFS Cluster.

Notably, NFT.Storage includes both long-term "cold storage" in the decentralized Filecoin network, as well as "hot storage" using IPFS Cluster.
