Could I safely make a public server over my home network on a dedicated computer?
Originally I wanted to host it on a dedicated machine (Lenovo M710q Tiny PC). It's the model with a i3-7100t and I know it's more than capable of running the server. Though safety is what came to mind immediately. DDoS protection, hackers, whatever else. I wanted to use playit.gg instead of port forwarding for some safety and also using a domain I bought on name.com.

A free tool to make your server public without port forwarding

-
Ngrok doesn't work for bedrock, I made playit.gg which does.
The program is mainly made for users behind CG-NAT. But if you don't have access to your router, or simply don't want to share your home IP, it also works great. The program is open source (the server side is proprietary): https://github.com/playit-cloud/playit-agent
-
Port Forwarding Issues
Well it's opensource so you're more than welcome compiling and running it https://github.com/playit-cloud/playit-agent.
-
Is playit.gg secure
The Playit.gg client is open source (Link). I haven't personally gone through the repository yet, but if there were malicious code the community would have been vocal about it.

The tool I created lets you make your server public without port forwarding and you get a free static IP
There's some trust involved with running software on your computer, but we try to be as transparent as possible and have open sourced the playit program: https://github.com/playit-cloud/playit-agent.

I've launched a new version of playit.gg, it's like ngrok but give you a static IP. No port forwarding needed to launch a public server.
For the past two years I've been developing playit.gg. Last week I launched a new version that fixes tons of bugs and is open source! https://github.com/playit-cloud/playit-agent
-
I created playit.gg and recently added support for Unturned, host a server without port forwarding
