Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Launch HN: Odigos (YC W23) – Instant distributed tracing for Kubernetes clusters
We are actually able to handle the long tail of tracing by leveraging the amazing open source community. For languages like Java we use the automatic instrumentation created by the OpenTelemetry community which is really great and support ton of libraries, you can see a list of supported libraries here: https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-java-instrum...

End-to-end tracing with OpenTelemetry
As in Python, it creates spans for every method call and HTTP entry point. It also instruments JDBC calls, but we have a Reactive stack and thus use R2DBC. For the record, a GitHub issue is open for adding support.

Implementing Distributed Tracing in a Java application
Download the latest version of the Java JAR agent, and copy jar agent file in your application code. We have placed the agent under the folder named agents.

Best performance monitoring tools?
OpenTelemetry and Java Flight Recorder (JFR) cover most bases. Use the OpenTelemetry Java agent if you want auto-instrumentation or just the APIs if you want to do your own instrumentation.

Everything you need to know about OpenTelemetry Java auto-instrumentation 👨🏽💻
OpenTelemetry provides three repositories to instrument applications. The opentelemetry-java-instrumentation repo contains the code for auto-instrumentation of Java applications.

Monitoring Spring Boot with OpenTelemetry
You have a working backend, but it is not very interesting without a frontend. Let's go ahead and install a React + Redux frontend that will serve as a UI:
- Good code example of advanced CRUD project?
- 18 useful GitHub repositories every developer should bookmark
-
Is there a website similar to LeetCode with some Spring challenges?
This is the React + Redux frontend project, and for Spring Boot I'm not sure what your prospective company uses to interfact with the Database, but it's normally JPA, therefore this Spring Boot + JPA project is a good start.

How do I learn scripting languages?
Did you use create react app to build your app? It take a lot of the pain away from learning as there are a lot of sane defaults configured in. If you specify Typescript (an option for create react app) it’s a lot closer to Java than vanilla JS, also helps you write clearer, more typesafe code. Perhaps look at some existing smaller projects using React, there are some good real world examples for a heap of languages on gothinkster including react, but that might be overwhelming with redux as well which is a whole other part of a UI app.
-
Are there real-world apps that are built with react where I could see the codebase? As a beginner, I would love to understand how far away my knowledge is from building something real.
However although their React+Redux example is perhaps the most popular one, it's not currently maintained. Instead, this maintained fork is recommended on their list. It's not in TypeScript, which today's projects should normally use, but I guess it's OK for beginner to study
