You could give https://github.com/it-novum/openITCOCKPIT a shot. I’m not sure how well it can monitor nutanix related things, but it also includes the mentioned Checkmk RAW edition.

Zabbix, Nagios... vs PRTG.
The tricky part is to fit all the puzzle pieces together. To good news is, somebody already did this with projects like omdistro or openITCOCKPIT (I'm related to this one) where you get an out of the box experience with all the different open source tools bundle together.

Statusengine: The missing extension for Naemon and Nagios monitoring environments
The Worker Statusengine Worker is written in PHP. It forks multiple worker processes to keep up with the workload large systems produce. Due to it is written in PHP it is easy adjustable and extendable. The worker will store the event data to different databases such as MySQL or CrateDB.

Nagios Inconsistencies
Please take a look at Statusengine. It connects your Nagios to an MySQL (or CrateDB) database. The servicechecks table contains all checks that nagios executed. The statehistory tables only hold state changes.
