Zotero Better Notes – Knowledge management solution insid}e Zotero
I’m using Zotero + Obsidian for my academic work and PhD.
If anyone is trying ti unpack a Zotero to Obsidian to Word/Libreofficw workflow, I’ve created a GitHub repo README with instructions on linking everything together.
Hopefully someone finds this useful, happy for more contributions also (hence why used a repo to do this)

Import PDFs from existing folder structure in bulk without duplicating?
I have a similar set-up. I have thousands of PDFs in hundreds of folders, so I used the add-on "Folder Import for Zotero" to import "linked files" en masse. HOWEVER, this add-on does not work with the current version of Zotero.

Is Zotero folder import plug-in gone for good?
Does not appear to be compatible with the current version of Zotero and github link doesn't seem to work either. Bummer if true.

Zotero vs using the computer folders
For (2), I think no. You can use Zotfile to move attachments into folders. You can use Zotero Folder Import to import all attachments in folders into your Zotero library. But I don't think you can effectively set Zotero to scan a folder and update its library when a new file is added.

Looking for tool to comment on arbitrary files
You can import your existing file structure into Mendeley or Zotero (by using the folder importer plugin). Both of them extract the abstract of the document, or you can use your own abstract if you wish.
