obsidian-linter VS obsidian-dataview

Maybe Linter is something for you. I use it to add/remove frontmatter.

And then i use [Linter](https://github.com/platers/obsidian-linter) the remove the "#".

There’s a linter plugin for Obsidian, too.

I use https://github.com/platers/obsidian-linter, which can add the current file name as a header. I create a new file, press CTRL+S or CMD+S to trigger it, and everything is already in place.

You can use the frontmatter for this. I like the Linter plugin bc it can easily create and update that for you. As for linking to the calendar, there are a few ways to achieve that. You could probably use DataView with the frontmatter mentioned above, but I am not as familiar with that. I just the Calendar + Periodic Notes plugins to create daily notes using a template, which includes this:

You can use a combination of the Daily Notes and Dataview to create a reading log for each day. On each daily note, you can format each log like this:

Another advocate for Obsidian here. You can use it for base notes, embed other pieces of content as suitable to your domain, link and visualise these via a DAG with the in-built graph view and extend from there with extensions like https://github.com/blacksmithgu/obsidian-dataview if you need. The tool can be as simple or complex as your project requires.

Someone pointed out over in /r/PKMS that Obsidian with Dataview provides the exact functionality for which I'm looking.

Take a look at Obsidian with Dataview. You get all of the benefits of plain text (Markdown) files on disk, plus a lot of flexibility in adding some structured, queryable data to those notes. There are Obsidian themes that let you add other views (e.g. cards) on top of dataview.
