Ultimately, there is no reason that "Collections" should be a class. It can never be constructed (probably, though there's workarounds), and any code that treats it as a class is guaranteed to be a bug.

you're not going to patch VM bytecode directly but if anything it's more likely that you'll patch the original, raw subroutine that calls said obfuscated code. VTIL is helpful if interested in rebuilding original code with protection stripped

What are some alternatives?
Reflections - Java runtime metadata analysis
MOOS - C# x64 operating system programming with the .NET native ahead-of-time compilation technology.
ReflectASM - High performance Java reflection
Python-to-x86-asm - Python-to-x86 assembly compiler for CSCI4555 (Compiler Construction)
ClassGraph - An uber-fast parallelized Java classpath scanner and module scanner.
llvm-project - The LLVM Project is a collection of modular and reusable compiler and toolchain technologies.
jOOR - jOOR - Fluent Reflection in Java jOOR is a very simple fluent API that gives access to your Java Class structures in a more intuitive way. The JDK's reflection APIs are hard and verbose to use. Other languages have much simpler constructs to access type meta information at runtime. Let us make Java reflection better.
.NET Runtime - .NET is a cross-platform runtime for cloud, mobile, desktop, and IoT apps.
Triton - Triton is a dynamic binary analysis library. Build your own program analysis tools, automate your reverse engineering, perform software verification or just emulate code.
Graal - GraalVM compiles Java applications into native executables that start instantly, scale fast, and use fewer compute resources 🚀
