nvim-bufdel is a minimal plugin to improve buffer deletion, and unlike many others supports confirm option.

close buffer without exiting
I'm currently using vim-bbye to delete buffers because it's really great. I created this function to close a terminal, split, or closing buffer and doesn't exit nvim. I haven't had any problems with it.
