Microsoft Is Driving Users Away
Always useful to look at the seemingly endless stream of Linux information, the Arch wiki:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ASUS_ROG_Zephyrus_G14_(2022...
Also NixOS has a nixos-hardware repository with configurations for some laptops:

Reasonably legible if you ever programmed anything

A couple nooby questions
Btw, for starters, I think you can learn a lot by checking other's configurations and from things like https://github.com/NixOS/nixos-hardware. There are a lot of useful/essential configurations that are not enabled by default.

Setup -Advice or another attempt to dive deep
in that case do note that this module assumes you use nixos-hardware, otherwise you can remove lines 161-165. I can also send you my VM's libvirtd .xml file when you get around to creating it.

Xorg fails to start with the modesetting driver
My computer is a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro with a dual GPU setup (AMD iGPU + Nvidia DGPU) where I'm using a "hybrid mode" configuration provided by nixos-hardware, using PRIME offload.
Not too long ago nixos-hardware changed the default Xorg driver for AMD to modesetting from amdgpu.

I'd definitely look into the Framework mainboard and the Framedeck, this might be exactly what you're looking for! https://github.com/brickbots/framedeck

The new and upgraded Framework Laptop
Sure, it's entirely a coincidence that both https://github.com/brickbots/framedeck/ and https://github.com/penk/MainboardTerminal published 10 days ago, and they're both referenced in this framework announcement. Convenient for Framework that those two projects came out right before their upgrade launch!
But I don't just have my own innate cynicism to go on here! The framedeck project write-up actually contains this disclosure:
As they were preparing this documentation release, they emailed me to see if I'd be interested in a collaboration of sorts. They would provide one of their laptops and some additional modules for me to build something unique with the only condition being that I released the designs for public use.

Introducing the new and upgraded Framework Laptop
We’re incredibly happy to live up to the promise of longevity and upgradeability in the Framework Laptop. We also want to ensure we’re reducing waste and respecting the planet by enabling reuse of modules. If you’re upgrading to a new Mainboard, check out the open source designs we released earlier this year for creative ways to repurpose your original Mainboard. We’re starting to see some incredible projects coming out of creators and developers. To further reduce environmental impact, you can also make your Framework Laptop carbon neutral by picking up carbon capture in the Framework Marketplace.
