create-t3-app VS TypeScript

Nexxel was blogging about tRPC in May right before launching the framework. Build end to end typesafe APIs with tRPC signaled the birth of the framework on May 21, 2022 along with an initial commit on May 20, 2022. Originally called Create Nex App, the README described the project like so:

My inspiration for this project was the incredible work of Theo from Ping Labs an ex-Twitch developer. I closely followed his development video for Roundest Pokemon, as it highlighted the same tech stack that I was interested in using. The T3 stack consists of TypeScript, Next.js, Prisma, and tRPC to create an end-to-end type-safe full-stack development ecosystem, with Tailwind CSS on top for styling. In addition, to quick-start the creation of my app with this stack, I used the create-t3-app CLI, which is maintained by his wonderful community.

create-t3-app recently reached 90 stars on GitHub and is my most popular open source project with a lot of people contributing. Now you may be wondering, what the hell is it? Let's take a look at the t3 stack and how you can use create-t3-app.

While we were fighting against the modules, we forgot one small detail - their built-in typings. Esbuild can't do this at all yet. Unbelievable, but the tsc, native TS compiler, also does not provide a typings concat feature. Got around this problem: we've introduced [a utility to combine typings](tsc-dts-fix of zx own code, and applied some monkey patches for external libdefs squashed via dts-bundle-generator.

Regular expressions are part of the language, so it's not so unreasonable that TypeScript should parse them and take their semantics into account. Indeed, TypeScript 5.5 will include [new support for syntax checking of regular expressions](https://github.com/microsoft/TypeScript/pull/55600), and presumably they'll eventually be able to solve the problem the GP highlighted on top of those foundations.

Dedicated syntax for creating unique subsets of a type that denote a particular refinement is a longstanding ask[2] - and very useful, we've experimented with implementations.[3]

I don't think it has any relation to runtime type checking at all. It's refinement types, [4] or newtypes[5] depending on the details and how you shape it.
