It seems like you have a function to initialize firebase, so my next question is how you're initializing it. Normally, with an auth context provider, you'd want to export the app so you can call it in a component, like this.

I don't know if he makes any YouTube videos, but Robin Wieruch, the guy who wrote Road to React along with a few other great courses, has an incredibly thorough blog that teaches a lot of JS/React/Webpack/etc topics. They're very easy to follow and well-written. His Road to React course is also superb.

I have two suggestions off the top of my head: 1) Change App from a function to an arrow function. 2) Extend the App class like this. This is the old way of writing _app.js so it should work.
