The most up-to-date and comprehensive guide I'm aware of is Morrowind++ Now I personally didn't follow this guide specifically (my own game is a combination of it, Thastus 2020 and MGG) but it looks really well made on it's own.

Morrowind++ (Shorter but extremely comprehensive vanilla++ guide of Morrowind, up-to-date and seemingly very well made, well-chosen QoL mods that mesh with the vanilla game. If you follow one guide, this is probably your best bet.)

Morrowind Improved goes into further detail about setting up the game. The Morrowind Modular Mod Guide has a similar level of detail.

This is a decent modding guide that includes a lot of the more recent mwse stuff. Here's a big list of lots of great mwse specific stuff, though its a few months out of date at this point. In particular I have found Ashfall to be particularly amazing, which is basically skyrims frostfall in morrowind (though better in some respects imo). Character Sound Overhaul, Aura, and MUSE cover sounds and music. Watch the Skies is a fantastic weather mod. Mort has an huge number of gameplay improvements to things like stealth, leveling, game balance etc. Theres honestly way to much to list in just a single reddit comment.

I saw in a comment you want to improve the graphics, this can be as easy as using MGE XE or OpenMW for distant terrain and Morrowind Enhanced Textures to upscale the old textures or as complicated as following a guide like Thastus 2020, MGG, or Morrowind++

A modern modded Morrowind has all the quality of life you could dream of. Of course, installing all these mods can take time, but luckily you have a few options there as well. If you want it quick and easy, we have YAJAN, a very respectible modlist using Wabbajack, If you don't mind a bit more manual effort in exchange for more customisability, Morrowind++ is an excellent choice.

Or, there are two mod lists built for use with Wabbajack to automate the downloading and installation of a ton of mods for original MW. Personally a huge fan of the modlist You Are Just An N’wah, which adds a bunch of new content, role playing options, new profession skills (mining, blacksmithing, tailoring, etc) and optional survival mode (hunger, thirst, temperature exposure). Pretty easy to install: download the program Wabbajack, download Morrowind, download the modlist details, point Wabbajack to a download and installation folder, and follow the prompts. Done, it’ll download all the correct mods and install them for you.

Currently getting back into Morrowind and I was really interested in the YAJAN modlist. Tried it out and despite having a beast of a machine, my fps is constantly dipping around 30-40s. Does anyone get a steady 60 fps with this mod? Was wondering if there was some settings or way of doing so.

Anyway, the base of this install is Morrowind SHARP with a lot of additions / inspiration from You Are Just an N'Wah (YAJAN). Then it's a lot of RP / Immersion / Gameplay stuff. Here's the load order (exported with abot's Mod List): Pastebin link.

If you know nothing about Morrowind mods but want to play anyway, your best bet is an automatic modlist. Try YAJAN.
