I'm a Bitcoin maxi with a soft spot for Monero. I value privacy a lot. Can you point me to some books and answer some questions?
Read Mastering Monero but keep in mind it's a bit outdated and a second edition is coming. There is also Zero to Monero but I haven't read it (yet).

What is the long term role of Monero?
There are plenty of examples why you may want to be private that don't involve illegal stuff. Give a look at masteringmonero for examples if you haven't yet.
