Some Skeuomorphic Icons and Themes for Linux Devices
The Mint-X theme is always worth a mention. It looks great and is still shipped with Linux Mint releases. It has a gray sort of metal look. This is what I use. https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-themes The Mint-X icons are still available too but they're just from Faenza.

Comfortable with command line, inexperienced with GUI
In addition to this, I'd recommend grabbing the mint themes package. Not a requirement at all, but I like their defaults.

Mint-Y theme problem
How did you install the themes? It could be a packaging error if you're using a repo package. You could try downloading the .deb package from the latest release tag on github and extract the files from data.tar.xz/./usr/share/themes/ to ~/.themes

Thank you Debian Team for such a wonderful OS experience.
For future reference, the Linux Mint themes and icon pack are freely available on the Mint team's github. It's a lot easier than trying to get them from the actual Mint iso.

Help with NixOS expression for Xfce docklike taskbar plugin
I am novice nixos user and I didn't really write any of nix expressions yet. I would like to have Xfce's docklike taskbar plugin (github link), so I would greatly appreciate if somebody could make one nix expression for me so I could build it? I also hope it's not too hard, but I am too sick and tired atm to comperhend documentation regarding it.

Why do icons in the window buttons seem to use random themes (Linux Mint 21 with XFCE)? I'm using Papirus icon pack, and it otherwise works fine, but in the Window Buttons panel applet, they seem to follow random themes. Can anyone help me out as to how I can fix?
Because of default xfce window task manager sometimes picks icons from .desktop files sometimes picks from window icons. I recommend xfce4-docklike-plugin

Ubuntu History (Unity Desktop Site, 2010-2017). In my opinion, Unity was (and still is) a professional polished desktop, which gave Ubuntu a unique identity.
