Algolia is blazing fast and super easy to set up, but you do need an account. Another option is Meilisearch, it's self-hosted so considerably cheap and still very easy to install. They even have an official scout driver.

Is it just me or does Laravel Scout suck ass?
What really turned things around for us was finding Ivan Babenko’s Elastic Scout Driver Plus. He’s got a whole collection of really useful packages. The elastic-migrations package made it so much easier for us to script alterations to indices and mappings. It works perfectly with AWS Elasticsearch Service and beats maintaining our own cluster or cringe MySQL full text search lol 😄
