    You can also do something in between with the use of pandoc. Pandoc is a transpiler that can compile different text file formats to other text file formats. Using it to transpile markdown to LaTeX allows you to write all of your scientific reports in markdown, which might be a preferred syntax over LaTeX, while also allowing you to use the markdown live preview.
