Manticore Search: 3 years after forking from Sphinx
Even easier than using the JSON over HTTP is to to use a client for a specific programming language your application is written in. We've implemented new clients for php, python, java, javascript, elixir, go. Most of them are based on the new JSON interface and their code is generated automatically, allowing us to add new features to the clients much faster.

Parsing GET query parameters
Are you trying not to use the Kibana interface, and want to write your own interface to query the data? If you are using php, there is a library https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch-php . Personally, I didn't have much success with the library, so I access them using get and post commands.
