Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.

Adapter Pattern vs. Bridge Pattern
Most frameworks have a caching system that has a single API for working with it, while providing adapters for different implementations, like: redis, memcache or a filesystem cache.
