Blogging for the first time ever
I think it's very important to have the right platform to blog. I actively write now since I found Letterpad. It's a beautiful platform, free, efficient, and free of noise and ads. If you want to seriously develop a habit of writing and enjoying it, do try this out.

Do you know of a more flexible/better blogging platform than Blogger? (It needs to be simple and straightforward to use.)
There are lots of blogging platforms. And what you mentioned and what your father faced is a reality. Blogging shouldn't be too complicated. But the platforms are business oriented. Wordpress is great but it tries to solve every user's needs, even company's needs. Have you come across Letterpad ? If not, give it a shot. - Letterpad - https://letterpad.app
Try https://letterpad.app . It's free and open source, built by a community of passionate developers.

Would anyone be able to mentor me for blogging?

- I made an alternative to Medium Blog with NextJS. It can be customised to suit your brand, accepts custom domain, can create photo-stories (for creative people) and lots more. Its open source but you can use the platform as well. Feedbacks/Critics are welcome. Thanks.
- I made an alternative to Medium Blog but more powerful with Tailwind CSS. It has branding options, domain mapping, powerful editor, photo-stories and lots more. Its open source and the platform is ridiculously fast.

Another open-source blogging CMS - Letterpad
Thank you! Yes. I have already created this but it needs some more time. I was busy with the platform. But this will soon be added. - https://github.com/letterpad/letterpad/pull/349

Proton and Standard Notes are joining forces
Diversifying a lot. Next acquisition will be Ghost(https://ghost.org/) I bet. Similar DNA, fits in the portfolio (If they are trying to match the feature set of Google) and have no VC backing.

Why I Care Deeply About Web Accessibility And You Should Too
For example, if you are in a country where you can accept Stripe and are publishing a newsletter through, Substack or using the Ghost platform, enabling the ability to accept payments is a few clicks away. For those who cannot accept payment with Stripe, well, you are up the creek without a paddle. I do not know about you, but I see that as a barrier to access.

Tea.xyz causes a flood of spam pull requests to open source projects
This response from one of the Tea developers seems disingenuous https://github.com/TryGhost/Ghost/pull/19743#issuecomment-19...
How could they not have predicted this outcome?

Self-hosting Ghost with Docker and PlanetScale
PlanetScale and Ghost were previously incompatible due to differences in their support for foreign key constraints. With PlanetScale now supporting foreign key constraints, a seamless collaboration between the two is achievable. Nonetheless, there remain minor incompatibilities that require resolution.
