I don't know much about that, but I can try to look into it more later. But to build it yourself, you can install Node.js, clone the WareWoolf git or just download the source code, go to that directory in the terminal and use command "npm install" for the node package manager to install the dependencies. Once that's done, you can use "npm start" to run it, and here is info on building binaries.

I have updated the readme on Github to explain how to compile WareWoolf yourself if you'd like, but have just released pre-made binaries for the new v0.9.0 beta release on the "releases" page on github: https://github.com/brsloan/warewoolf/releases

Thanks! I plan to put a Raspberry Pi 4 in it, since it runs an Electron app and I don't know how well the less powerful pis could handle it. You can read the specifics on my writing app here, but basically it saves each chapter as an individual JSON file and a project file that pulls them all together. The rest of the stack is Raspberry Pi OS Lite + X Server + Matchbox Window Manager, as outlined in myHow To Create A Single-Purpose Writing Device post.

The software I wrote is probably cringeworthy to any professional coder--I'm just an amateur and wrote it in Electron--but it does exactly what I want with all the shortcuts like you said. (The first program I wrote fiction in was WordStar.) It is finally at a point where I'd feel comfortable doing a beta release for others to give it a go. I'm thinking of learning Rust and trying to rewrite WareWoolf from the ground up, but that's a big project and I'm going to take a break first to focus on fiction for a while.
