When creating a new window, can you open to the CWD in your terminal emulator of choice?
I don’t know much about Kitty, but there may be a config option to open in the directory of the last focused instance. If not, you may be able to find/write a script that will open it in the directory of the focused window. I used this script for launching alacritty in this way.
What are some alternatives?
