  • Evaluation of Microsoft Playwright
    7 projects | dev.to | 4 Mar 2021
jest-playwright is added to the jest configuration as a preset which makes all the features available to be used at your disposal. It was inspired by jest-puppeteer.
  • Run end-to-end testing with Jest and Puppeteer
    3 projects | dev.to | 3 Mar 2021
jestPuppeteer.debug() as in the documentation (on GitHub) suspends test execution and allows you to see what's going on in the browser. It uses the jestPuppeteer.debug() method which enables you to pause the tests to inspect the browser.

    3) You can may also add a testing stage in your deployment pipeline. So for example if you re-deploy your stack to update the PowerShell version, then you may want to check if the new PS version works with your code. Hence the testing stage in your pipeline, the pester module works wonders here. This is usually referred as Integration Testing. (note if you want to test your UI then Playwright is a nice framework)

For E2E testing, I recommend Playwright. For libraries of components, Storybook might be handy.

Nope! Works just fine with @xstate/test. You write a test model with it and perform your actions/asserstions via the view, or you can test against the machine directly but then you aren't testing the view. It's something that I haven't had enough experience to explore properly but we have one semi-complex UI component written with xstate-tree tested using @xstate/test in that fashion. I've also written all the E2E tests for our Electron desktop app with @xstate/test driving Playwright. Though for that I wrote a layer ontop of @xstate/test that allows you to group the model into "Zones" representing a specific portion of the UI so you don't have to deal with a single large test model.

Would it be possible to use a headless browser (e.g. Playwright) to programmatically navigate the official public course search website and scrape information with innerText, query selectors, and/or regex? Also, I really wish that you could still make information on previous semesters available through the endpoints as they are valuable to many students as well (e.g. to look at frequencies of classes being offered in the past).

You could wire up a Puppeteer / Playwright script to hit your website and check for the existence of your form element and then send yourself an alert (maybe through Mailgun or something similar) if the form is missing

If you're instead hoping to do everything in an automated fashion, without manual interaction, I might do this with a webdriver or some other way of controlling a browser in headless mode. Maybe something like Puppeteer or Selenium or playwright. All of these I think require some knowledge of basic programming beyond just shell scripting, however.
