Roku specific playback problem with aac 7.1 content.
I've posted a request on the GitHub page for the Roku app for a setting that would force the client to request transcoding, which would be a suitable workaround. If you think it'd fix your issue, leave a comment on my issue to let the developers know.

Am I misunderstanding bitrate vs bandwith? Direct Play is buffering every couple min when bandwith is 2x the bitrate (x264)
Here is the issue on github. Devs said it will be addressed in next update.
- Everything transcoding? Not sure if issue with Roku client or JF server.

I used to use Plex until I found Emby. I find Emby easier to use and it does the same thing. Just putting this here as a fourth option for OP. :)

You can find it here! I have both installed, but I generally keep EMBY turned off until I want to play around with it. You can have both running at once and both accessing the same folders. You can check it out for free.

For clarity: Emby is still mostly open source (the source code is right here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby). Emby started incorporating closed source plugins that you only get with the paid version of Emby in order to try and get revenue.
