ddclient
This is the new home for ddclient. Ddclient is a Perl client used to update dynamic DNS entries for accounts on 'Dynamic DNS Network Services' free DNS service. It currently supports a lot of different routers and a few different services. (by ddclient)

Personal Opinion: Why Plex is not going to implement local authentication servers.
It doesn't compare to plexamp, simply because it's not as far along as plex, most of the development is focused on getting the main features working. There is an app in infant stage right now called JellyAMP.

Is it possible to have a service running on my Ubuntu server to automatically update my Google domains DNS settings when my ISP changes my IP?
ddclient has support for Google DNS. It is available as a package on Ubuntu/Debian.

Disabling IPv6 Dynamic DNS updates not working
Which version of OPNSense are you running at the moment? There were changes to the os-ddclient package in the 23.1.6 patch in order to fix the config generation in response to changes in ddclient 3.10.0 when enabling IPv6 updates (ipv6=yes was disabled, and replaced with usev4/usev6. If a reboot doesn't help, I'd be happy to give you a hand with debugging the ddclient config.

So a came accros Inadyn which compared to the current state of DDclient, is being actively maintained. More info here from what i am talking about.
