PHP in 2024
I took a look at https://github.com/aaviator42/izi/blob/main/izi.php. Basically the first repository that was listed. It looks a lot like what I wrote years ago, which unfortunately, in my book is not a positive. What I take issue with are the following things.
iniSettings();

I don't want to host services (but I do)
One of the 'services' I host is a simple interface on a server that allows me to easily upload files and get sharable links to them.
At this point it's used by more than just me, a bunch of people in my circle use my instance to share files.
In case anyone else finds this useful: https://github.com/aaviator42/izi
There's a demo here: https://aavi.xyz/proj/fakeizi/

ffsend: A fully featured Firefox Send command line client
For the same purposes, I use a script I wrote that can be thought of as a simple self hosted FF Send alternative.
Allows you to easily upload files to your server from a web interface and share them.
It's a single PHP script you chuck on a server (shared hosting or virtual private or homelab): https://github.com/aaviator42/izi

Orthogonal Persistence
You should have a look at https://internetcomputer.org they built everything around orthogonal persistence.

I don't want to host services (but I do)
https://internetcomputer.org/ seems to promise that. but i still can't wrap my head around how that is supposed to work. does it turn every participating computer into a remotely accessible CPU so your code will run on random machines somewhere in the world?

The problems and difficulties of Ethereum 💎 (And their possible solutions)
Internet Computer: It is quite different from the others as it is a fairly complete solution for developing full-fledged applications in general. It allows you to create software and consume APIs natively. It is incredibly fast, and users do not have to pay fees if you, as a developer, don't want them to. Currently, they are integrating with Ethereum, which will be amazing to see in the industry. So much so that even Vitalik Buterin mentioned them as one of the most important and innovative blockchains in the space. On the Internet Computer platform, you can store up to 5GB per contract, giving you ample capacity for your applications. Additionally, it allows you to create autonomous smart contracts called Canisters. This is a very comprehensive solution that could compete with Web2 platforms like AWS and Google Cloud. Internet Computer has many interesting features, and over time, I believe it will capture developers' attention. Its focus on scalability, speed, and the ability to run full-fledged applications make it an attractive choice for those seeking advanced solutions in the blockchain space.
