Home Assistant iOS app adds local push notification support
6 projects | news.ycombinator.com | 8 Jul 2021
It’s implemented but it still requires an official Google Assistant smart home skill and a cloud connection to set-up. It works out of the box with Home Assistant Cloud.
It’s kinda cool how it works, as your Google Home Mini will run our JS app and let it interact with Home Assistant. In the case of Home Assistant Cloud, all commands are just forwarded as-is as all processing is always local. You can see the source here https://github.com/NabuCasa/home-assistant-google-assistant-...
Note, syncing local access, exposed devices and any command requiring 2FA still goes via the cloud.
After months of work and multiple rejections from Apple, I finally launched my SaaS and got my first paying customer!

Don't mean to shit on your idea but how does this compare to an app like Pushover for instance? (https://pushover.net/)
how to create push notifications for mobile

Rather than reinvent the wheel, I'd just use Pushover.

So if and when my hotspot ever starts earning again, I'm curious whether there is any way to get push notifications of earnings through Pushover. Has anyone any experience with this?

I use Pushover for my iOS devices, it's absolutely solid and affordable. :)
What's everyone using for monitoring and centralized logging these days?

I'm using Pushover but I don't think the transport matters. By default it sends you a mib code but you can customize the notifications with templates. Here are couple examples.
how do you guys check the health of your containers?

I use diun. I configured it to notify me of available updates via pushover. I then update my containers when I have time to ensure they've restarted correctly. The whole process takes maybe a minute or two and I never worry about something failing silently.
Weather alert automation

I do have another automation that sends me a notification when my garage fridge exceeds a certain temperature. I’m using Homebridge Messenger (https://www.npmjs.com/package/homebridge-messenger) and Pushover (https://pushover.net). Works great. It’s a one time purchase but well worth it and it’s only $5. There is a 30 day trial in case you want to test it.
POST to Flask from espduino timing out
2 projects | reddit.com/r/codehunter | 28 Mar 2022
I'm playing with an esp8266 providing WiFi to an Arduino with this library. I have it set up properly to POST to Pushover as well as requestbin, and between the debug output and the interface from these tools, I can verify that the request data is being POSTed properly, and the esp8266 / arduino unit's response status code properly shows 200.

How about a Pushover or similar implementation? Thanks for your initiative!
