Java is a great tool to have here. You can use the AppKit to create a dApp: https://github.com/ergoplatform/ergo-appkit

However, as a platform; you are encouraged to create your own value within the chain. For developers this can be achieved by claiming fees for your dApp, or seeking funding via [Ergo Raffle]() or [ErgoPad](). Alternatively there paid bounties scattered across the Ergo repositories which are summarised here. Notably, there are bounties for Tutorials and Guides for developers at any skill level.

There are also open bounties for translations if anyone is keen. Sign up to ergonaut.space and share the best local exchange information (regional exchanges are in the works), print stickers, spread the word - Let's create grassroots finance.

As I said, there is plenty of funding up for grabs, but more raffles and community action is always encouraged.
