Shell Metaprogramming with Nix
I switched the use-case up in that example, from shell functions to shell scripts, but the concept is the same. Personally, I'd use it in my project for modular nix-shell environments, envth, where I prefer to use and source functions. In both cases, I'd want to bundle up a family of utilities (or a utility with different options) to a single command. The net gain being I make a specialized tool that acts as a single entry point for collaborators.

Introducing composable shell environments with "envth"
The shell.nix adds envth and calls markup.nix. The pecular structure of this shell.nix is discussed in the envth README. There are two lines in shell.nix to control what environment is loaded: markup.nix or imports-markup.nix. Comment/Uncomment as desired.

I made a small repo doing just that.
