Entering macro sets... grrr
I'm an enthusiastic user of FFXIV Hotbar for a SLEW of reasons (global hotbar and job specific hotbar, to start) as well as being able to create and use your own icons which is GREAT fun.

Controlling alts
Personally, I'm a huge fan of using XIVHotbar to call windower macros. You can set it up to do any windower command, including things like exec and send, so you can setup hotkeys for things like toggling WS use, or having an alt cast something on your current target.

Any control mods?
Turns out (and I just now found this out myself!) that someone has taken over updates of the mod and made a TON of improvements! You can grab it from here: https://github.com/Akirane/XIVHotbar
