Paragraph indent for novel writing with Emacs
Have you looked at rnkn/fountain-mode from the same author as olivetti-mode? It is for screenwriting but you may be to use elements of it for your passages of dialogue? They also wrote rnkn/binder which you may find useful in your writing projects.

(For advanced users...) Emacs 28 has support for inscript and phonetic input, and you can use fountain-mode specifically for scriptwriting. For spellchecking install Santhosh Thottingal's mlmorph-spellchecker - which supports even compound words - and wcheck-mode. Here's my config for that:

Is Word sufficient for screenwriting
This list is missing a some applications. Movie Magic Screenwriter fits in the Flat fee section. YouMeScript fits in the free (or subscription) section. And although Fountain-Mode for Emacs is not technically an application, it works like one. (The same can be said for several of the Fountain add-ons for various text editors.)
