Have split tunnelling for chrome only.
Use this image for OpenVPN or this image for WireGuard, download and mount the respective config file and set the browser proxy address to 127.0.0.1:1080

Is it possible to setup WireGuard so it only routes traffic for applications that binds to a specific interface?
Perhaps something like this could help? An actual SOCKS proxy with a Wireguard “backend”?

Anyone had luck with tunneling only specific applications through WireGuard on MacOS?
The setup I used: https://github.com/kizzx2/docker-wireguard-socks-proxy

Setting up a Wireguard Interface to a VPN on Ubuntu and not routing ALL traffic through it.
I'm looking into something like this as an alternative: https://hub.docker.com/r/kizzx2/wireguard-socks-proxy

Lightweight VPN to proxy "converter" inside a Proxmox LXC
Thanks for giving me the docker idea! I found https://github.com/kizzx2/docker-openvpn-client-socks and it's exactly what i wanted. I just made a new LXC with Alpine 3.14, added two more lines from Proxmox OpenVPN in LXC wiki to its config, manually done everything from dockerfile, copied over all config files and it works without messing with the firewall. Now i just need to backup that container, restore it more 9 times, set up static DHCP leases and i'm done.

Request Socks Support
I quickly googled to see if anyone have done something in this regard, and it seems that you can achieve this with docker and basically set up one or many local SOCKS proxies which connects to any gateway with OpenVPN or WireGuard (most likely will work on Linux only): https://github.com/kizzx2/docker-openvpn-client-socks https://github.com/kizzx2/docker-wireguard-socks-proxy
