Introduction to hardware programming with DeviceScript
Hardware programming used to require you to learn C/C++. If you’re already familiar with JavaScript or TypeScript, you will be delighted to learn about DeviceScript, a TypeScript programming environment for microcontrollers. In this blogpost you’ll learn the basics of electronics and DeviceScript. We will create the “hello world” of programming: making an LED blink!

DeviceScript and LCD screens
This article shows how to use DeviceScript to program a microcontroller (ESP32-C3), a temperature/humidity sensor (BME680) and a LCD character screen to build a tiny weather dashboard. This project does not require soldering or embedded skills.

DeviceScript - Temperature + MQTT
To connect to Adafruit.io, you will to get an account with https://io.adafruit.com and store your username and password in the settings as the IO_USERNAME and IO_KEY keys (make sure your key is in env.local). Also create a feed and update the feed key in the example below.

Should I use Firebase as a Realtime Database?
I've been using Adafruits https://io.adafruit.com for graphing but it's easy to hit their free limit and I miss the historic data and ease program of access.

Need help - Garage door open alert system
2nd - I used https://io.adafruit.com/ to monitor the system. My goal was not to alert me via text/email but rather to allow me to see the door's position and send a command to open/close the door via the app.

Displaying readings to website?
I use Adafruit IO. You can publish values via MQTT (or HTTP if you like) and view graphs etc on the website. https://io.adafruit.com/
What are some alternatives?
Sming - Sming - powerful open source framework simplifying the creation of embedded C++ applications.
Google-Sheets-Logging - Log data from an ESP8266 device directly to Google Sheets without a third party service. Log sensor data, send data by pressing a button, and receive data from a Google spreadsheet. (NodeMCU, Wemos D1 mini, Adafruit Feather HUZZAH, etc)
ts2c - Convert Javascript/TypeScript to C
Basic-ESP-IoT - Basic Microcontroller API Consumption
tinybasic - A BASIC interpreter for Arduino, ESP, RP2040, STM32, Infineon XMC and POSIX with IoT and microcontroller features.
Basic-IoT-API - Basic Microcontroller API Consumption
