Whats the actual reason for limiting the tabs on stash space?
Here's the diablo 2 save file format. The most complex items take around 32 bytes. Do the math, even if someone somehow had half a million items, it would only take 3MB of space, which is nothing. There's no server issue with item count.

About your first point, check out the Durin VI project. It changes the field of view of the camera, which is very different from just being able to move the camera back further (switching back and forth between 1st and 3rd person view, you see more in 1st person despite the camera being closer because it has a wider FOV).
