Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Learning to Code Through Real-World Challenges: My Transformative Journey
With this newfound perspective, I embarked on a new path. I decided to tackle problems from Project Euler, solving them at scale and under various constraints. It is my hope that this approach will not only provide practical challenges but also allow me to apply and solidify my programming knowledge in a more engaging way.

Ask HN: Good sources of math exercises for ~10-17 y/o?
Could solve Project Euler problems in Lua - aka, the easiest programming language to learn

Alternatively, you could get a homeschool math textbook. They're written differently because the assumption is that the kid is going to have to teach themselves, and as such they are significantly more thorough and easy to understand. I highly recommend them. Don't get the kind that are "workbooks", those are usually trash. Find a good textbook that the kid can write in their own notebook for and sell after they're done with it. They'll learn how Ebay works, and algebra!

Ask HN: Are there any websites for SQL puzzle games?
A coworker used to solve Project Euler[1] problems using SQL while they waited for DB indexes to rebuild or tables to restore from backup in the middle of the night.

How Hard Is Software Development?
Additionally, I focused on understanding algorithms and data structures, as they form the backbone of efficient coding. I also practiced problem-solving on platforms like LeetCode and HackerRank. These exercises sharpened my analytical thinking and prepared me for technical interviews. By combining structured learning with practical experience, I was able to transition smoothly into a career in software development.

🚀 Don't cheat in leetcode- become better in it, grind harder 💪
Hey, I think all of you, readers, know about leetcode- a platform for for coding interview preparation. There a lot of good problems to solve and interface is amazing. I started solving leetcode problems about a year ago, but was active only for 3-4 month.

Top 10 Free Resources to Learn Data Structures and Algorithms in 2024
1. LeetCode Learning by doing is considered one of the most effective ways to master anything. So, if you wanna master DSA by solving DSA-oriented problems, then I can vouch that LeetCode is the best platform out there for you. For the last 400+ days, I’ve consistently solved coding problems on this platform to increase my problem-solving capability and DSA knowledge. Their website's UI, UX, and problem quality are top-notch. In the beginning, get some theoretical knowledge about a specific data structure or algorithm, then solve the problem related to the data structure or algorithm you’ve read. Getting stuck on a problem? See the hints they have given? Still stuck? See the editorial they’ve written on the editorial page. In case the editorial is only for premium users, check out the solution tab. There, you will find different solutions in various languages written by people like you. They also offer a bunch of things, like study plans, courses, and a store (where you can buy things using coins you’ve earned). Overall, I believe it's an excellent platform for mastering data structures and algorithms. link: LeetCode

Finding a Path As a Self-Taught Software Developer
I did some traveling around the western US in late 2022 to take stock of where my life was and where I was going. During that time I decided that I would go all-in with my coding education, and committed to learning the remaining material listed on those bootcamp syllabi that I had not yet studied – namely, connecting the pieces of the MERN stack; learning about automated testing and data structures & algorithms; and studying development paradigms & methodologies like Agile, Scrum & Kanban, and OOP design patterns & principles – as well as continue to develop my programming fundamentals on platforms like Leetcode and Codewars.
